The evening of stories in words and music at The Harborough Culture Cafe, at Louisa’s Place on June 25th was a great success. We presented poetry readings, short stories, music and a short play. All original material and all created by local artists. Thank you to everyone who participated.

On May 11th we presented at the VE Day celebrations at Welland Park. Recollections of the day itself were presented, including an audio tape of the reminiscences of local woman Ruth Burgess who was just 17 years old at the time. MHSC volunteers Ron Counte, Ele Shepherd and Claire Parsons presented.
In March Ron Counte presented a history of recorded sound from the 1870’s to the present day at a special Culture Cafe event.

Partnership Working
We are delighted to be working with Home-Start South Leicestershire to allow us to share stories with some of their groups. Our aim is to be able to offer regular sessions for children and their main care givers.
Working with other Arts and Cultural Organisations
There is a growing interest throughout the town for groups to work together to try and secure a building able to be used by groups who contribute to the cultural life of the town.
While working towards having a dedicated building we will be involved in a program of events designed to showcase the wide ranging cultural offerings currently available.

The storytelling at The Cherry Tree has been suspended for a bit – keep an eye on the website to see when this is reinstated.

We are very sad to report the death of our founder and Chairperson, Sarah Smyth in August 2024. We are determined to continue to grow the charity in her memory.
Sarah was known as ‘Ray’ to her family and friends and she is greatly missed.
